Former K-pop Star Seungri Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

South Korean Singer Indicted for Prostitution and Gambling

Seoul, South Korea (CNN)

Former K-pop star Seungri has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of prostitution and gambling charges.

Born Lee Seung-hyun in 1990, Seungri was a member of the popular K-pop boy band Big Bang, which has sold over 150 million records worldwide. He was better known by his stage names Seungri (meaning "victory" in Korean) and VI, and was a popular figure in the South Korean entertainment industry.

During the trial, Seungri denied most of the charges against him, including arranging sexual services for investors and engaging in illegal gambling. However, the court found him guilty on all counts and sentenced him to three years in prison.

The sentencing of Seungri has sent shockwaves through the K-pop industry and has been widely condemned by fans and the wider public. It is a reminder of the darker side of the entertainment industry and the consequences of illegal and unethical behavior.
